The UN General Assembly approved a resolution initiated by Ukraine to ensure the safety and security of nuclear facilities in Ukraine, including the Zaporizhzhia NPP, calling for its demilitarization and de-occupation.
The General Assembly approved a resolution on the protection of nuclear facilities in Ukraine, including Zaporizhzhia NPP. This was announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, UNN reports.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announces the successful adoption by the UN General Assembly of the resolution "Safety and Security of Ukraine's Nuclear Facilities, including Zaporizhzhia NPP", initiated by Ukraine.
Today, another important step has been taken to restore respect for the UN Charter and international law. The resolution "Safety and Security of Nuclear Facilities of Ukraine, including Zaporizhzhya NPP" initiated by Ukraine was approved by the UN General Assembly
In light of russia's failure to comply with the resolutions of the IAEA governing bodies, the resolution calls for the demilitarization and de-occupation of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.
The President expressed gratitude to all partners for their support in efforts to ensure security in all territories affected by Russian aggression and called for further joint defense of fundamental norms of international law and common values.
