Ukrainian power system can export electricity only during certain hours when there is a surplus, while exports are practically zero - Kudrytskyi
Kyiv • UNN
Ukraine's electricity imports now far exceed exports, with exports almost zero due to the recent wave of massive attacks, while imports help balance the system by allowing limited exports only during certain hours when there is excess electricity.
Electricity imports now far outweigh exports. Ukraine can export electricity only during certain hours when it is in surplus. At present, electricity exports are almost zero, Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, chairman of the board of NPC Ukrenergo, said during a briefing, UNN reports.
Details
As for exports/imports. Since the beginning of this wave of massive attacks on March 22, we have seen a dramatic change in the situation. Before that, exports outweighed imports, when there were no restrictions in the power system and it was balanced, but now the situation has changed. Imports helped to balance the system a lot. Imports now far outweigh exports. Exports are almost zero. At certain hours, when there is very high solar activity during the day, consumption decreases. When there is a surplus of solar energy, we can choose either to limit it or to export it without any harm to the Ukrainian consumer. In this case, limited exports are allowed
He noted that exports can take place at night, when consumption also falls.
In all other hours, our exports are zero. And in the evening, when consumption increases, imports from Europe usually increase as well
Recall
Tonight the enemy damaged a large energy facility in the Kharkiv region. In Kharkiv, there are restrictions on electricity consumption. Electricity restrictions, but for industrial consumers, are also in effect in Dnipropetrovs'k region.
