Ukraine expects the extension of the agreement with the EU on freight transport by road until the end of 2025. Thanks to the agreement, Ukrainian carriers will not need additional permits.

Ukraine expects the extension of the agreement between Ukraine and the EU on freight transport by road until the end of 2025, which expires at the end of June. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal during a press conference, reports UNN.

The agreement on visa-free transport was signed in the summer of 2022. It made it possible to avoid slowing down the export of Ukrainian products through road checkpoints.
In March 2023, the agreement on the liberalization of freight road transport between Ukraine and the EU was extended until June 30, 2024.
Since the beginning of the "transport visa-free regime", Ukrainian exports by road to the EU have significantly increased. In addition, this led to an increase in Ukrainian imports from the EU.
One of the main demands of Polish carriers, who together with farmers are blocking the western border of Ukraine, is the abolition of the "transport visa-free regime" for Ukraine.
In March last year, the European Commission proposed to extend the Agreement on Road Transport with Ukraine, while allowing EU countries to temporarily suspend its operation under certain conditions.
In June last year, the European Union and Ukraine decided to extend until June 30, 2025 and update the current agreement on freight transport by road.
