Ukraine and Poland agreed on measures for the stable operation of the border amid a possible increase in freight traffic

Due to the possible redistribution of international freight flows caused by changes in maritime and river logistics, Ukrainian and Polish services are strengthening coordination of their work at the border. During a meeting at the "Rava-Ruska – Hrebenne" border crossing, the parties identified joint steps to maintain the stable movement of freight transport. This was reported by the State Customs Service of Ukraine, writes UNN.

The main topic of the meeting was ensuring the uninterrupted movement of freight transport across the Ukrainian-Polish border

- the statement says.

The parties analyzed factors that could significantly affect the logistics of international transportation in the near future. These include complications in maritime logistics due to the security situation in the Black Sea, restrictions on navigation on the Danube caused by low water levels, and the seasonal increase in agricultural exports.

All of this directly affects the import and export of goods and forces businesses to seek alternative logistics routes

- the post says.

In connection with the expected redistribution of freight flows, an increase in the workload of international road border-crossing points in Ukraine's western regions is forecast. This will primarily concern routes through which customs clearance is carried out for freight vehicles weighing more than 7.5 tonnes.

The Ukrainian side reported its readiness to increase the number of employees involved in customs clearance, which will make it possible to increase the throughput capacity of the border-crossing points.

The parties also discussed ensuring the regular submission of freight vehicles to international border-crossing points from the Ukrainian side, which will contribute to the even distribution of traffic flows.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue regularly exchanging information, respond promptly to changes in the situation at the border, and hold another meeting after some time to assess the effectiveness of the measures implemented, analyze the results, and determine further steps.

The State Customs Service of Ukraine noted that the effective operation of border-crossing points is impossible without constant communication, mutual trust, and coordinated action by all services on both sides of the border. Such cooperation is the key to the stable operation of border-crossing points.
