The former Deputy Minister of Energy, MP and director of Ukrvuhillya were served with a notice of suspicion of abuse. They caused UAH 12 million in losses to Centrenergo through the illegal sale of coal.

The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine have notified former Deputy Energy Minister Maksym Nemchynov, former MP Volodymyr Vecherko and former Ukrvuhillya director Mykhailo Voloshyn of suspicion of abuse, which caused millions of dollars in losses to one of Ukraine's largest energy generating companies in the context of the energy crisis that arose as a result of Russian aggression. This was reported by UNN with reference to the SAPO.

Details

Under the procedural supervision of SAPO prosecutors, NABU detectives served three people with a notice of suspicion of abuse, which caused millions of losses to one of the largest energy generating companies in Ukraine in the context of the energy crisis caused by Russian aggression

- the statement said.

It is noted that in July 2022, the Cabinet of Ministers ordered SE Ukrvuhillya to supply coal to certain electricity producers, including PJSC Centrenergo, in order to ensure the sustainable passage of the 2022/2023 heating season.

However, the pre-trial investigation found that despite the existing restrictions, the ultimate owner of the private company, in collusion with the former Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine, persuaded the director of the state-owned enterprise Ukrvuhillya to sell coal to his company, which at the time of the sale already had debts of more than UAH 50 million. As a result, the private company received almost 24 thousand tons of coal, which it subsequently resold at an inflated price and made a profit of UAH 20 million. At the same time, PJSC Centrenergo did not receive 12.5 thousand tons of coal, which in October 2022 was forced to buy back at a significantly inflated price, resulting in losses of almost UAH 12 million for the company

- SAP added.
