It is noted that the animal belongs to the famous trainer Carmen Zander, who keeps a group of big cats on the territory of an industrial site, Bild newspaper reports, citing Leipziger Volksstimme.

Initially, police stated that the victim was a man who sustained only minor injuries; however, Bild reported that he was hospitalized.

Later, media outlets clarified that the victim is a 73-year-old man who was caring for the animal, and he suffered serious injuries.

According to a police spokesperson, no other tigers escaped.

She reported that the tiger escaped from a private facility in Schkeuditz, west of Leipzig, and was subsequently shot in nearby gardens.

Carmen Zander, known as the "Tiger Queen," has previously had legal issues regarding the treatment of animals, the weekly Zeit reports, citing media sources.

In particular, she is suspected of performing shows with tigers without the proper permits, leading the Leipzig prosecutor's office to open an investigation.
