Next week, the US House of Representatives will consider an annual defense bill that provides for more than 3 3 billion to support us telecommunications companies in removing equipment from Chinese manufacturers Huawei and ZTE from the country's wireless networks. The purpose of these measures is to eliminate risks to national security.
The 1,800-page document, released on Saturday evening, contains a number of provisions aimed at strengthening counteraction to Chinese influence. Among them is the requirement to prepare a report on how China is trying to circumvent US national security regulations, as well as conduct an intelligence assessment of China's current biotechnology capabilities.
