Kyiv • UNN
Police opened a criminal investigation into the possible issuance of fake disability documents to ARMA officials. The agency's management provided law enforcement with information about five employees with disabilities.
The head of the Asset Recovery and Management Agency, Olena Duma, fearing to repeat the "career" of former Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin, immediately cooperated with law enforcement and provided all the necessary information about employees with disabilities, UNN reports.
Details
On October 25 , the National Police launchedand criminal proceedings on the facts of forgery and abuse of office. According to the investigation, employees of medical and social expert commissions (MSECs) organized the issuance of knowingly forged documents on disability to ARMA officials in order to obtain undue advantage and abuse of office. This allows them to receive a deferral from service in the Armed Forces and pension payments.
The police are currently checking five officials of the agency. As UNN has learned from its own sources, among them are the advisor to the head of the ARMA, Oleksandr Danilkovych.
Thus, ARMA has actually taken over the "disability marathon" from prosecutors.
A scandal involving disabled prosecutors led to the resignation of Andriy Kostin from the post of Prosecutor General.
In response to UNN's request , the Asset Recovery and Management Agency reported that their management was aware of the criminal proceedings.
In response to the law enforcement agency's request, comprehensive information was provided on persons employed by the ARMA who have the status of a disabled person. Taking into account the public outcry caused by the situation with hundreds of fictitious disabilities in the prosecution, the law enforcement agency received complete, verified and reliable information
The agency added that it currently employs five people with disabilities, including people who have had the appropriate status since birth. In addition, the National Agency employs employees who "became disabled as a result of injuries sustained while performing tasks to protect the territorial integrity and state sovereignty of Ukraine in the combat zone, and their status is confirmed by all necessary medical documents.
It remains to be seen what the results of the law enforcement investigation will be, but it is clear that if criminal proceedings have been opened, they have certain facts or information about ARMA employees with disabilities that need to be verified.
Meanwhile, the public has reacted strongly to the information about the allegedly fake disability certificates and is convinced that this case is another example of corruption and inefficiency of state bodies. Ukrainians demand not only an investigation, but also concrete steps to clean up the agency.
