The White House confirms that it had no prior knowledge of the operation in Kursk region. The US plans to ask Ukraine about the details, but reaffirms Ukraine's right to self-defense against Russian aggression.
White House spokesperson Karin Jean Pierre confirmed that the United States was not warned about the operation in the Kursk region before it took place. However, the U.S. administration plans to ask Ukraine for more information about the purpose and nature of the breakthrough. Jean Pierre said this during a briefing at the White House, UNN reports.

Jean Pierre refused to comment on whether Ukraine used American weapons for this attack, but emphasized that the US policy of prohibiting strikes outside the border between Ukraine and Russia remains unchanged.
The spokeswoman also emphasized Ukraine's right to defend itself against Russian aggression and reaffirmed that the United States will continue to support Ukraine in its efforts to counter Russian aggression.
"We have to remember that there are Russian troops in this region [Kursk region - ed. They are there, attacking Ukraine from this region. We must not forget about this," the official said.
She also assured that the United States will continue to support Ukraine as it defends itself against Russian attacks, adding: "Ukrainians will take common sense actions to protect themselves from these attacks.
