The Supreme Court confirmed a 10-year prison sentence for a former priest for the molestation of his daughters. For three years, he abused the children and filmed pornography on his phone.

The Supreme Court has upheld the sentence of a former priest of the UOC-MP from Dnipro, who was found guilty of molesting his two young daughters over the course of three years. The man will ultimately spend 10 years behind bars. This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General, according to UNN.
The Supreme Court supported the position of the prosecutors from the Office of the Prosecutor General and the Livoberezhna District Prosecutor's Office of Dnipro and left the sentences of the previous instances unchanged
It was established that the 47-year-old convict lived alone with his two young daughters after the death of his wife. For three years, he molested the girls, who were 13 and 12 years old at the time the illegal acts began.
In addition, with the participation of one of them, the convict produced pornographic files and stored them on his phone.
In 2023, the priest was detained and taken into custody, and the children were placed with their godmother's family.
In 2024, the court of appeal overturned the first sentence and sent the case for a retrial.
Despite this, prosecutors proved the guilt of the former priest, and in 2025, the court again found him guilty of molesting young children, as well as producing and possessing child pornography without the intent to distribute.
The man was again sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment. In November 2025, the court of appeal left this sentence unchanged.
The defense filed a cassation appeal, but prosecutors insisted that the decision was legal and the punishment was justified.
In May 2026, the Supreme Court agreed with the prosecution's position, rejected the defense's cassation appeal, and ultimately upheld the 10-year prison sentence.
During the court proceedings, the convict denied his guilt until the very end.
The man has been included in the Unified Register of Persons Convicted of Crimes Against the Sexual Freedom and Sexual Integrity of a Minor.
