In July, the Pentagon updated its casualty statistics, adding another serviceman to the list of deaths from non-hostile causes. The US Central Command confirmed that it was indeed a Navy pilot.
Prior to this, the last combat losses of American troops were recorded in March, when 13 servicemen died in two separate incidents. In total, since the start of the war, 414 American troops have been wounded, including one US Air Force serviceman added to the statistics on Monday.
The US Central Command and the Air Force did not specify the circumstances of the latest injuries. According to official data, the majority of casualties occurred in March, with another 34 troops wounded in April and three in June.
