The government has appointed Maksym Kuterga as the temporary head of the Bureau of Economic Security. Previously, he was the deputy of Serhiy Perkhun, whose term of office expired on April 9.

The Cabinet of Ministers appointed Maksym Kuterga as acting director of the Bureau of Economic Security. Prior to this, Kuterga was the deputy of the acting director of the Bureau of Economic Security, Serhiy Perkhun, whose term in office expires on April 9. This was announced by the government's representative in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk, in Telegram, reports UNN.

The duties of the director of the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine are temporarily assigned to Maksym Volodymyrovych Kuterga.

It is noted that Kuterga will assume duties from April 10 and will hold the position until the director of the Bureau of Economic Security is appointed in accordance with the established procedure, but for no more than one year.

Maksym Kuterga was born in 1987 in Kyiv. He graduated from the National Academy of Internal Affairs of Ukraine with a degree in Law.

From 2004 to 2015, he worked in law enforcement agencies, after which he worked in the Prosecutor General's Office for 4 years. From 2019 to 2022, he worked in private structures, and from 2022 he began serving in the Bureau of Economic Security, where he was, in particular, the head of the Territorial Department of the Bureau of Economic Security in the Kyiv region.

Since July 2024 - Deputy Director of the Bureau of Economic Security for Digital Development, Digital Transformation and Digitalization.

In June last year, the Verkhovna Rada voted in the second reading and as a whole for draft law № 10439 on the reboot of the Bureau of Economic Security (BEB).

The bill provides for mandatory re-certification of employees. Also, according to the document, international partners will have a decisive vote in the selection and re-certification of BEB employees.

In January 2021, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the law on the Bureau of Economic Security. In May, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the resolution "On the establishment of the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine." From 2021 to 2023, the Bureau of Economic Security was headed by Vadym Melnyk.

After Melnyk, Andriy Pashchuk and Eduard Fedorov headed the Bureau of Economic Security in the status of acting director. In April last year, the Cabinet of Ministers appointed Serhiy Perkhun as acting director of the Bureau of Economic Security until the Director of the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine is appointed in accordance with the established procedure, but for no more than one year, that is, until April 9, 2025.

In December last year, the Commission for the competition for the position of Director of the Bureau of Economic Security announced the conditions and deadlines for submitting documents. Documents could be submitted until January 24.

Currently, 16 candidates have been admitted to the competition for the position of Director of the Bureau of Economic Security.
