A 29-year-old Russian contract soldier who shot and killed a local resident during the battle for Kyiv will be sentenced to 12 years in prison.

Thanks to the Security Service's evidence base, another Russian occupier involved in the killing of civilians during the battles for Kyiv received a real prison term. This was reported by the press service of the Security Service of Ukraine, UNN reports .

We are talking about Radik Gukasyan, a 29-year-old contract soldier from the 331st Parachute Regiment of the 98th Airborne Division of the Russian Armed Forces.

During the battles for Kyiv, he and other racists shot a civilian car near Bucha, killing the driver. To conceal the crime, the occupiers buried the body of the murdered man in the woods.

Ukrainian defenders took Gukasyan prisoner during fierce fighting in the Kherson sector in August 2022. The investigation revealed that the attacker was part of the Russian occupation group, which from the very first days took part in the full-scale invasion of Russia,

While in the Kyiv region, he and his accomplices shelled and robbed the homes of local residents. Then he sent the looted property to Russia.

Based on the SBU materials, Gukasyan was found guilty under Part 2 of Article 28 and Parts 1, 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with premeditated murder by prior conspiracy).Taking into account the cooperation with the investigation, the court sentenced the racist to 12 years in prison.
