Russian general is suspected of a missile attack on a hotel in Kramatorsk that killed a Reuters journalist

The SBU has collected evidence against Russian Colonel General Alexei Kim, who ordered the Iskander strike on a hotel in Kramatorsk. The attack killed a Reuters journalist and injured 10 others.
Law enforcers have served a notice of suspicion to the Russian Armed Forces Colonel General who ordered the Iskander missile strike on a hotel in Kramatorsk that killed a Reuters journalist, the SBU and the Prosecutor General's Office reported, UNN reported.

"The Security Service of Ukraine has gathered evidence against a Russian general who organized a missile attack on a crew of the international news agency Reuters on August 24, 2024. A Reuters employee was killed and 5 of his colleagues were injured when a Russian ballistic missile hit the Sapphire Hotel in Kramatorsk. According to SBU investigators, the person responsible for this air attack is Russian Colonel General Alexei Kim, who is the deputy chief of the general staff of the Russian armed forces. It was Kim who signed the directive and gave the combat order to fire on the hotel, where only civilians were staying," the SBU said.
According to the SBU, the Russian colonel general engaged one of his subordinate missile troops to carry out the attack.
"In accordance with Kim's combat order, his subordinates hit the hotel with an Iskander-M ballistic missile. The fire completely destroyed the building of the civilian facility, and in addition to Reuters journalists, 5 other civilians received injuries of varying severity," the SBU said.
Based on the evidence collected, SBU investigators served Russian Colonel-General Kim a notice of suspicion in absentia under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
▪️ part 2 of Article 28, part 2 of Article 437 (conduct of aggressive war);
▪️ Part 2, Article 438 (violation of the laws and customs of war).
Comprehensive measures are currently underway to bring the offender to justice. Every Russian war criminal will be found and punished.
The investigation was conducted under the supervision of the Prosecutor General's Office.
