Russia is forced to significantly reduce projects in nuclear energy due to problems in its own economy. This was reported by UNN citing the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

Details

The Kremlin traditionally uses nuclear energy as a tool to strengthen geopolitical influence. However, the head of the state company "Rosatom" announced a reduction of the investment program by almost half and the abandonment of a number of projects in order to save money "in the context of a generally negative economic background."

By imposing comprehensive agreements on countries, which include not only the construction of nuclear power plants, but also training of specialists, fuel supplies, waste disposal, and providing loans, the Kremlin is trying to put countries into long-term economic dependence on the Russian Federation

 - the statement reads.

At the same time, as noted in the Center, the effect of Ukrainian long-range strikes and the huge expenditures on the war against Ukraine significantly reduce Russia's ability to use this tool.
