Road accident with death of National Guard officer: court extends arrest of Tandyr judge

A Kyiv court extended the detention of Judge Oleksiy Tandyr until February 17 in the case of a car accident that killed a National Guard officer, and seized his property and funds.

The Sviatoshynskyi District Court of Kyiv has extended until February 17 the measure of restraint in the form of detention for judge Oleksiy Tandyr, suspected of committing an accident in which a National Guard member died. The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office informed the UNN journalist about this.

Svyatoshynskyi District Court  of Kyiv granted the prosecutor's request to extend the term of detention for the accused for 2 months until February 17, 2024 inclusive

 - the prosecutor's office said.

The prosecutor's office noted that the court granted the prosecutor's motion to seize the ex-judge's property, namely a land plot located in Kyiv region. The court also seized the accused's funds. According to the latest declaration, the judge owns 293 thousand hryvnias and 25 thousand dollars.

Addendum

On the night of May 26, Judge Oleksiy Tandyr, head of the Makariv District Court of Kyiv Region, ran over a National Guard officer to death at a checkpoint in the capital. The judge was detained on the spot.

The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office reported to UNN that it had launched an investigation under Part 3 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code (Violation of the rules of road safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles while intoxicated, which led to the death of the victim).

The High Council of Justice reported that on June 2, it temporarily suspended judge Oleksiy Tandyr of Makariv District Court of Kyiv Region from administering justice.
