German concern Rheinmetall has unveiled a new-generation frigate GMF 140, 140 meters long. The ship features air defense systems, anti-submarine weapons, and 64 missiles in vertical launch systems.

The German defense concern Rheinmetall has presented a new-generation frigate GMF 140, 140 meters long and with a displacement of over 6,000 tons. The ship is equipped with air and missile defense systems, anti-submarine armament, and the capability to launch 64 missiles from vertical launching systems. This was reported by the company's press service, writes UNN.

The GMF 140 sets a new standard for survivability and mission flexibility in the global frigate market. With the GMF 140, Rheinmetall is targeting international markets and intends to initially offer it within a procurement project in North America

The German manufacturer also noted that the new frigate combines advanced air and ballistic missile defense, anti-submarine warfare, and long-range strike capabilities.

The GMF 140 can track and detect aircraft, hypersonic weapons, and ballistic missiles. It is equipped with 64 vertical launching system cells for various types of missiles.

The GMF 140 was specifically designed for the needs of NATO naval forces and allies. Its design is tailored for countries modernizing their fleets in response to increasingly complex security challenges in Europe, the North Atlantic, and the Indo-Pacific region.

Rheinmetall also noted that the frigate can be equipped with anti-ship missiles, torpedoes, a 127-mm gun, a laser, and electronic warfare systems.
