The United States has warned Iran of the risks of a large-scale strike against Israel in response to the assassination of the Hamas leader. According to Politico, Tehran may reconsider its initial plan to respond to the death of Ismail Haniyeh.
Iran may reconsider the decision to launch a massive attack on Israel in the coming days in response to the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political bureau of the Palestinian radical movement Hamas, in Tehran. This was reported by the Politico newspaper with reference to American officials, UNN reports.

It is noted that the United States is still waiting for Iran to respond to Haniyeh's assassination, but does not believe that it will attack Israel in the near future, as Tehran has revised its initial response plan.
Two senior U.S. administration officials said that Washington had warned Tehran that a large-scale strike would only increase tensions and risk a direct confrontation between the parties. They specified that the United States also urged Iran to reconsider its reaction to Khaniya's death and not to consider it part of a larger operation. According to the officials, Iran is increasingly agreeing with the US viewpoint, although it initially denied it.
Context
The next round of escalation in the Middle East followed the death of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and the assassination of Fouad Shokr, one of the commanders of the military wing of the Shiite Hezbollah movement, in Beirut.
Iran, Hamas, and Hezbollah blamed Israel for what happened and said they would not let it go unanswered.
