After his meeting with Putin, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban sent a letter to EU leaders in which he paraphrased Russian propaganda about "peace for Ukraine," including false claims about Ukrainian military losses.
After his visit to Russia, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban sent a letter to European Council President Charles Michel and EU leaders with a "summary" of his talks with Putin. In the letter, dated July 5, Orban actually paraphrased Russian propaganda theses about "peace for Ukraine." The letter was obtained by Yevropeiska Pravda, UNN reports .

Orban assures that during his visit to Moscow, he "did not put forward any proposals or express any opinion on behalf of the European Council or the European Union," noting that the opposite claims are "baseless.
Describing the conversation with Putin, Orban said that the Russian leader's attitude to the situation on the front line "differs significantly from President Zelensky's interpretation.
"Putin made no mention of Russian losses. As for Ukrainian casualties, the Russian side estimates the monthly losses of Ukrainian forces at 40-50 thousand soldiers, which have increased even more in recent weeks. Therefore, (Putin) was surprised that the Ukrainian president rejected the proposal for a temporary ceasefire," Orban wrote in the letter.
