On the 10th anniversary of the Anti-Terrorist Operation, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi thanked the soldiers who defended Ukraine from Russian aggression.

Exactly 10 years ago, the Anti-Terrorist Operation began in Ukraine.  Today we must remember and commemorate all Ukrainian defenders who laid down their lives for the freedom of our country, wrote Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi on Facebook, according to UNN.

Exactly 10 years ago, on April 14, 2014, the Anti-Terrorist Operation was launched pursuant to a decision of the National Security and Defense Council. The announcement of the Anti-Terrorist Operation was a reaction to the seizure of Sloviansk by a special unit of the Russian Federal Security Service led by an international criminal, on the orders of the head of the Kremlin

He added that he honorably served as Chief of Staff of the Anti-Terrorist Operation, Deputy Head of the Anti-Terrorist Operation, and Head of the Anti-Terrorist Operation.

"I sincerely thank every Ukrainian defender who joined the ranks of the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine in the spring of 2014 to protect our homeland from Russian terrorists and aggressors who brought suffering and death to our land. I thank everyone who has defended and is defending Ukraine's independence. On this day, we must remember and commemorate all Ukrainian defenders who laid down their lives for the freedom of our country in opposition to the Russian invasion," he added.
