Details
Microsoft has appointed Pavan Davuluri as the new head of Windows and Surface divisions. The Verge has seen an internal memo signed by Rajesh Jha, head of research and devices, which says that this will allow for a holistic approach to building components, systems, experiences, and devices, from Windows clients to cloud technologies, in the age of artificial intelligence.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Davuluri has spent his entire professional career at Microsoft, joining the company back in 2001. He worked closely with AMD and Qualcomm on chips for the Surface line.
Last year, after Panos Panayi's unexpected move to Amazon, Microsoft split the Windows and Surface groups under two different executives. Davuluri took over the work on silicon and Surface devices, while Mikhail Parakhin led a new team focused on Windows and the web experience.
Windows and Surface will now be merged under Davuluri's leadership, as Parakhin "decided to try his hand at new roles," the publication writes.
