Mango founder's son detained on suspicion of murdering his father

In Spain, the Catalan police have detained Jonathan Andic – the son of Mango brand founder Isak Andic – on suspicion of murdering his father. This was reported by El País, according to UNN.

Details

The billionaire died in December 2024 during a hike in the Montserrat mountains in Catalonia. At the time, Jonathan Andic stated that his father had slipped on a mountain path and fallen from a cliff from a height of about 150 meters. Initially, the death was classified as an accident.

However, in October 2025, the case was reclassified as murder. According to El País, investigators discovered contradictions in the testimony of Jonathan Andic, who was the sole witness to the tragedy.

Investigators point to family conflicts

As the publication writes, police established that Jonathan Andic had visited the Montserrat mountain a few days before the incident. His lawyers claim this was related to preparations for a family trip.

The investigation is also examining conflicts between the father and son over the management of the Mango company. Isak Andic handed over the leadership of the business to his son in 2014, but returned to managing the company just a year later.

According to El País, this strained the relationship between them. The businessman's partner, professional golfer Estefanía Knuth, had also previously spoken about the tense relations.

Currently, Jonathan Andic insists on his innocence.
