In a conversation with his Iranian counterpart, French President Macron warned against further support for Russia's war in Ukraine. He also called on Iran to stop escalating its nuclear program and release the French hostages.
French President Emmanuel Macron warned his new Iranian counterpart Massoud Peseshkian in a telephone conversation on Monday against Iran's further support for Russia's war in Ukraine, according to a statement from the Elysee Palace, UNN reports citing Reuters.

Macron also told Iranian President Pesekian that his country should play its part in preventing the escalation of tensions between Lebanon and Israel by stopping support for destabilizing actors.
Iran must also stop the alarming escalation of its nuclear program and comply with the demands of international organizations, Macron said.
Finally, the release of the three French hostages would be imperative for improving Franco-Iranian relations.
