Kyiv woman throws 18-year-old cat from 8th floor: court passes sentence

A 56-year-old woman, while intoxicated, threw her cat out of an 8th-floor window, killing the animal. The court sentenced her to 5 years in prison with a probationary period of 1 year.
In Kyiv, a court sentenced a 56-year-old woman to 5 years in prison with a probationary period of one year for throwing her cat out of an 8th-floor window while intoxicated, killing the animal. This was reported by UNN with reference to the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
With the support of the public prosecution, the Desnianskyi District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv delivered a guilty verdict against a 56-year-old Kyiv resident of cruelty to a cat, which led to the death of the animal, committed in an active manner (Part 3 of Article 299 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)
The court found the woman guilty of cruelty to the cat, which led to its death, and sentenced her to 5 years in prison with a probationary period of 1 year.
The prosecutor proved in court that in September 2024, a woman in a state of intoxication threw her cat, nicknamed Peaches, out of her apartment window. As a result of the fall, the animal, which had lived with the owner for 18 years, died from its injuries.
In court, the woman pleaded guilty in full and repented.
