Iran executes two participants of anti-government protests - media

According to Iran's semi-official news agency Tasnim, two Iranian protesters have been executed, indicating a possible intensification of repression by the Iranian regime under the cover of the conflict, reports UNN citing CNN.

Erfan Esfandiari and Gol Mohammad Mohammadi were executed this morning, Tasnim reported, for their involvement in the January anti-government demonstrations, which provoked a brutal response from the regime.
It remains unclear how many people died during these protests, but the US-based Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) reports that at least 6,000 protesters were killed.
US President Donald Trump at the time warned Tehran that if they used violence against protesters, the US would "come to their aid." And when, a few weeks later, the US and Israel began striking Iran, Trump urged Iranians to "seize the moment" and "take back" their country.
Such rhetoric weakened during the war. In fact, according to the Oslo-based organization Iran Human Rights (IHR), the regime has executed at least 47 political prisoners, significantly more than the 16 people executed around the same time last year.
