Instead of important things, we will spend money on changing the documentation - Brovary City Council deputy on the consequences of possible renaming
Kyiv • UNN
Despite the proposal to rename Brovary to Brovari, members of the city council voted to appeal to the Verkhovna Rada to preserve the historical name “Brovary” so that, in particular, they would not spend money on changing the documentation instead of such important expenses as supporting mobilized and wounded soldiers.
If you change the name of the city of Brovary to Brovari, you will have to spend money on changing various documents. However, it would be better to spend them on really important items of expenditure. This opinion was voiced by Maryna Kislitsyna, a deputy of the Brovary City Council and chief specialist of the city's social protection department, in a commentary to UNN.
According to a woman who voted in favor of an appeal to the Verkhovna Rada to withdraw the renaming resolution, MPs should listen to the opinion of the Brovary community.
"People's deputies are elected representatives of the communities. Therefore, I believe that they are obliged to listen to the opinion of the community residents and not to rename our city Brovary. The community wants to stay with the old name," said Maryna Kislitsyna.
Renaming will require the allocation of funds, in particular, for changing various documentation. And according to Kislitsyna, this money can and should be spent on more important matters.
I work in the department of veterans. And every month we go to the session and ask for funds for mobilized guys, for wounded guys. And my heart and soul will bleed if I know that our social security department will spend money on renaming documentation. Because these funds would be better spent on more necessary items of expenditure

At an extraordinary session, members of the Brovary City Council almost unanimously decided to support the initiative to preserve the name of the city of Brovary and to address the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine with a petition to preserve the name of the city of Brovary, taking into account scientific and historical research.
The appeal has already been sent to the Verkhovna Rada.
A resolution to rename Brovary to Brovari was previously registered by a group of MPs led by a representative of the Golos faction, Roman Lozynskyi.
Commenting on the city council's decision, Brovary Mayor Ihor Sapozhko noted that there are three conclusions of scientific institutions of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine that the name "Brovary" is historical and should be preserved.
He added that by voting at an extraordinary session, the deputies confirmed the position of the majority of Brovary residents who oppose changing the city's name.
