In the center of Washington, on the National Mall, 20,000 teddy bears were installed, each symbolizing a Ukrainian child abducted by Russia since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. This was reported by the Ambassador of Ukraine to the USA, Oksana Stefanishyna, on Facebook, writes UNN.
Details
According to the diplomat, Ukraine has already returned over 2,000 children as part of the Bring Kids Back UA initiative, but thousands remain separated from their families.
She emphasized that the return of children is a key condition for ending the war and achieving a just peace.
Support in the US Congress
American lawmakers from both parties and chambers of Congress joined the action, including Senator Amy Klobuchar, Senator Richard Blumenthal, Congressmen Michael McCaul, and Jamie Raskin.
Stefanishyna thanked them for their constant attention to the issue of returning Ukrainian children and holding Russia accountable.
Call for sanctions and accountability
The Ambassador emphasized that Russia must be under the harshest possible sanctions to feel the consequences of its actions.
Russia is not only waging war, it is stealing Ukraine's future. Thousands of children have been abducted, deprived of their identity, forced into a new life
According to her, these actions are a continuation of centuries-old attempts to destroy Ukraine, but they will fail, and all children must be returned home.
