In the Russian city of Nevinnomyssk, Stavropol Krai, the "Nevinnomyssk Azot" chemical plant caught fire following a nighttime attack. This was reported by the ASTRA Telegram channel with reference to an OSINT analysis of eyewitness videos, according to UNN.

Details

Local residents reported explosions in the city on the night of May 16. According to ASTRA, after analyzing footage published by the Exilenova+ channel, it was established that the fire broke out specifically on the territory of the "Azot" plant. The video was filmed from 50 Years of October Square at a distance of approximately 2-2.5 km from the enterprise.

As ASTRA notes, this is at least the sixth attack on the enterprise since the beginning of the full-scale war. Previously, the plant was attacked in March and January 2026, in December and August 2025, as well as in July 2025.

According to the channel, during the attack on June 14, 2025, 13 drones hit the plant's territory. At that time, doors, windows, and premises of one of the workshops were damaged, as well as the canteen roof and the enterprise's anti-drone defense system. During the attack, 800 chemical plant workers were in shelters, and the plant's operations were temporarily suspended.

Reuters previously reported that EuroChem enterprises — "Nevinnomyssk Azot" and "Novomoskovsk Azot" — supplied chemicals to the Sverdlov Plant in Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, between 2022 and 2024. According to the agency, acetic and nitric acids are used in the production of HMX and RDX for artillery ammunition.
