In Kyiv, a man impersonated a soldier and sprayed a canister inside a passenger cabin. The offender faces up to five years of restricted freedom for hooliganism.
A man provoked a conflict on public transport, trying to avoid paying for his fare. He impersonated an active serviceman, and when the driver asked for supporting documents, he sprayed a can of irritating substance in the cabin. This was reported by the Kyiv police, writes UNN.
The 102 emergency line in Kyiv received a report from a public transport driver about a passenger attack. As law enforcement officers established, during the trip, the man refused to pay for the fare, introducing himself as a serviceman. When the driver asked for a corresponding ID that grants the right to a discount, the man provoked an argument.
In the midst of the conflict, the offender pulled out a can of tear gas and an irritating substance and sprayed it in the crowded minibus cabin, after which he exited public transport.
District officers of the Holosiiv Police Department identified the perpetrator. He turned out to be a 27-year-old Kyiv resident who is currently AWOL.
Investigators, under the procedural guidance of the Holosiiv District Prosecutor's Office, notified the man of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – hooliganism. The sanction of the article provides for restriction of liberty for up to five years. Subsequently, the offender was handed over to the military law enforcement service.
