French justice today sentenced 71-year-old Dominique Pelicot in the case of the gang rape of his wife. The man was sentenced to 20 years in prison for drugging his then-wife Giselle for ten years in order to rape her along with dozens of strangers.
Dominic Pelico, was found guilty of aggravated rape of his wife and aggravated rape of another woman. He was also found guilty of taking and distributing photographs of his wife without permission.
A total of 51 people were tried in this case in the Avignon court. All of them were found guilty of at least one crime. 46 men were convicted of rape, two of attempted rape and two of sexual assault.
It is noted that in addition to the rape of Pelico, at least one man is also accused of using drugs and raping his own wife. His prison sentence is 12 years.
