Russia has started mass production of mobile shelters that can be used to protect people from various threats, including natural disasters, light radiation from a nuclear explosion and radioactive contamination of the area. This was reported by the All-Russian Research Institute for Civil Defense and Emergency Situations.
Production is supported at the state level: in May 2024, the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry proposed to create modular nuclear and chemical weapons storage facilities, noting that the current storage facilities in Russia are insufficient.
The production is carried out in the city of Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod Region. The structure can be transported to another location and connected to existing utility systems.

“The start of mass production of the modular shelter is an important step towards improving the safety of citizens. In the future, such developments will lead to the creation of new effective public protection systems.”
It is important to note that after the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Kremlin dictator Putin ordered the Russian nuclear forces to be put on high alert. Last year, Russia deployed tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus. Russia also suspended its participation in the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty with the United States.
