Hybrids and electric cars have become more popular in the new car market

In July, the share of cars with conventional engines in the new passenger car market in Ukraine fell to 63.1%. Hybrids and electric vehicles grew in popularity, with MAZDA CX5 becoming the leader among gasoline models.

In July, the share of cars with conventional engines in the new passenger car market in Ukraine fell to 63.1%. The popularity of hybrids and electric cars has increased, and the leader among gasoline models is the MAZDA CX5, the Ukravtoprom association reported on Monday, UNN reports.

"Last month, cars with traditional engines accounted for 63.1% of the new passenger car market. Last year, this figure was 70.8%. Thus, their market share decreased by almost 8 percentage points (p.p.)," Ukravtoprom reports.

As indicated, models with gasoline engines remain the most popular in Ukraine, accounting for 37.6% of July new car sales, which is 8 percentage points less than in July 2023. At the same time, the share of diesel cars remained almost unchanged at 25.5%.

As noted, the share of hybrids increased significantly from 17.8% to 21.1%. The electric vehicle segment also grew significantly, from 10.9% to 15.3%.

As in the previous year, LPG cars accounted for less than 1% of new car sales.
