As noted, German Economy Minister Robert Habeck arrived early Thursday morning on an unannounced state visit to the Ukrainian capital Kyiv. "Even in the third year of Russia's brutal and illegal war of aggression, Germany stands firmly on the side of Ukraine," the Vice Chancellor reportedly said immediately upon arrival at Kyiv's train station.

"Ukrainians are fighting for their own self-determination against Putin's aggression, they are also fighting for the values that make Europe what it is," the German minister continued. Therefore, it is in Germany's fundamental personal interest that Ukraine succeeds in its defense struggle. He emphasized that his visit is a sign that Germany should and will provide long-term support to Ukraine.

In Kyiv, he is scheduled to meet with representatives of the Ukrainian government. In addition to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Habeck is also scheduled to meet with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko and Minister of Energy Herman Halushchenko. "The talks will focus on Russia's recently significantly intensified attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. Habeck wants to discuss with his interlocutors how Germany can provide emergency aid and help build more resilient structures," the newspaper writes.

It is noted that Habek is accompanied by a business delegation. In addition to cooperation in the energy sector, it is planned to intensify relations in other areas, including the defense industry, the publication points out.

"During the visit, Gabek will be accompanied by a delegation of small businesses with managers and executives from energy and defense companies," the publication says.

This is his second trip to Ukraine during his term in office.
