Fuel oil has reached the shores of occupied Kerch: emergency regime has been introduced in the city

A release of fuel oil from the crashed Volgoneft tanker has been detected on the Kerch Peninsula. Emergency Situations Ministry and environmental services are trying to eliminate the pollution of the coastline and sea area.

Oil products from the wrecked tankers of Russia found on the shore and in the sea on the occupied Kerch peninsula. This was reported by the rf-controlled so-called mayor of Kerch Oleg Katorgin, reports UNN.

“On the Kerch peninsula in the area of Cape Snake and fortress Yeni-Kale there was a release into the sea and on the shore of fuel oil from the tankers that crashed. For cleaning the coast involved forces of the federal and regional Ministry of emergency Situations, the Ministry of ecology and natural resources of the Republic of Crimea and the city of Kerch”, - wrote katorgin.

According to him, the rescue service allegedly  sent SCB Maxim Kolosov and SCB Anatoly Tkachev to collect the fuel oil slick in the sea area.

“All possible measures are being taken to clean up the coast and water area,” states Katorgin.

On December 20, the director of Greenpeace Ukraine's office, Natalia Gozak, statedthat the most catastrophic consequences from the spill of oil products from Russian tankers in the Black Sea are expected in the coming days, and the pollution may reach the coast of Ukraine.
