From 3 to 10 thousand dollars: Demchenko tells how much men pay organizers for illegal border crossing
Kyiv • UNN
Men pay from $3,000 to $10,000 to organizers for illegal border crossing, who use teenagers as guides to avoid criminal liability for human trafficking.
The prices for illegal border crossing that men pay to organizers range from 3 to 10 thousand dollars. The offenders also engage teenagers to act as guides and bring the offenders to the border, relying on the fact that teenagers are not criminally liable for smuggling people across the border. This was stated by the spokesman for the State Border Guard Service, Andriy Demchenko, during a telethon, UNN reports .
Details
When the offenders are detained, they are usually filtered in order to identify the organizers, to find out how the organizers tried to smuggle them across the border, and to find out other details. We also ask them how much money they paid to the organizers of such an illegal trip. We see that, as a rule, the prices that people pay to these criminal groups, criminal elements, range from 3 to 10 thousand dollars
Demchenko said that the recent case of the men going to swim across the Tisza River, with two teenagers who were promised from 2 to 9 thousand dollars, is not an isolated incident, but unfortunately, they do exist.
The organizers of such illegal schemes engage adolescents to act as guides and bring offenders to the border so that they can attempt to illegally cross the state border. They primarily rely on the fact that adolescents are not criminally liable for smuggling people across the border. However, it should be understood that when we detain both offenders and adolescents, we bring the offenders to administrative responsibility, and hand the adolescents over to their parents, as well as inform law enforcement agencies about criminal actions regarding the illegal transportation of persons in order to identify the organizers
