According to Sejurni, it is naive to think that the EU can set its own rules, while Russia "is trying to determine what the foreign policy of European countries should be.
The diplomat believes that there has "never been any ambiguity on the part of Paris regarding Russia"; France wants to achieve a "surge of support for Ukraine" and send a "powerful signal" to Moscow that the EU countries are united on this issue, the minister said.
Sejourne reminded that seven countries, including France, have signed bilateral agreements on security guarantees with Ukraine, and another 25 are "in the process." According to the diplomat, there is "more unity between France and Germany than anyone thinks," there is a consensus on 80% of the issues of support for Ukraine, which were discussed at a meeting on February 26 at the Elysee Palace.
