The French diplomatic mission plans to visit Syria on Tuesday, December 17, to establish first contacts. This was reported by acting Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot on the France Inter channel, UNN reports.

According to Jean-Noël Barrot, the purpose of the four diplomats heading to Syria will be to "regain France's influence" in the country, "establish initial contacts" with the new government and "assess the urgent needs of the population" from a humanitarian point of view.
This visit could be France's first official step in restoring ties with Syria after a 12-year break due to the country's long-running conflict.
By the way, French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime.
