French and German citizens arrested at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan

Citizens of France and Germany were detained at the Baikonur Cosmodrome as they tried to approach a Soviet launch vehicle. The young men, born in 1998 and 2003, were arrested by Russian police.
The men were sentenced to short prison terms.

According to the Kazakh authorities, a German and a Frenchman were detained at the Baikonur Cosmodrome (leased by Russia from the Republic of Kazakhstan).
It is indicated that Russian police “arrested a Frenchman born in 2003 and a German born in 1998 on Baikonur on October 29,” a representative of the prosecutor's office in the Kyzylorda region of central Kazakhstan told AFP on Friday.
According to the official version, the men entered the territory of the Russian cosmodrome and headed for a Soviet-era launch vehicle. They were subsequently detained. Reportedly, both were imprisoned for a short time, while the case is under investigation.
