The Ministry of Foreign Affairs commented on the operation in the kursk region, saying that Ukraine does not aim to seize territory, but only protects Ukrainians and supports the military.

Ukraine is not interested in taking back the territory of the Kursk region, and the operation is being carried out to protect the lives of Ukrainians who are being shelled by russia. This was stated by Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhiy Tykhyi during a briefing, UNN reports.

Details

He reminded that the operation in the kursk region was discussed at a meeting where the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi reported on the control of the Ukrainian military over the territory of 1,000 square meters of Kursk region.

Unlike russia, Ukraine does not need other people's property. Ukraine is not interested in taking the territory of the kursk region, but we want to protect the lives of our people. Let me remind you that since the beginning of this summer alone, more than two thousand attacks from MLRS, cannon artillery, mortars, drones, as well as 255 guided aerial bombs, more than a hundred missiles have been launched from the areas of the kursk region and the Sumy region of Ukraine

- Tikhiy said.

He added that Ukraine does not have the ability to launch long-range strikes against russia with all available weapons to defend itself against russian terror.

There are no appropriate solutions that we insist on, so there is a need to use the Armed Forces to liberate these border areas from russian military contingents that strike at Ukraine or cover up terror against Ukrainians. We are achieving these goals in the kursk region and will continue to do so as necessary for the security and defense of Ukraine. It should be emphasized that the operation in the kursk region helps the frontline because it prevents russia from moving additional units to the Donetsk region and complicates its military logistics

- Tikhiy added.

He also noted that moscow is very concerned that the operation of the Defense Forces is taking place without any violations of international humanitarian law, which they would very much like to see and use in their propaganda.

Therefore, there are reasonable suspicions and fears that such incidents could be fabricated by russia. To fabricate, to create such fake incidents, including those involving possible disguises of Ukrainian military personnel. And we warn our partners to be prepared for such developments

- emphasized the spokesman.
