In Kaunas, 300 people were evacuated from a school due to confusion caused by a letter received by the institution: it reportedly contained shredded advertising leaflets, along with a white powder of unknown origin.
The incident was reported to the Department of Fire Safety and Rescue. The powder was collected by firefighters wearing special protective suits. The collected substance was sent to a laboratory for analysis.
Before that, firefighters decided to evacuate all the people in the school. The police, in turn, guarded the perimeter of this educational institution.
“According to preliminary information, the amount of material is not significant. It has been collected and taken outside. The National Public Health Center (NPHC) will organize an investigation for biological contamination,” Edita Zdanevichene, a representative of the Fire Protection and Rescue Department (PAGD), said in a statement .
