The European Union has sent  167 power generators to Ukraine for emergency assistance after new attacks on energy infrastructure.  This is stated in a press release from the European Commission, UNN reports.

Following a series of targeted missile and drone strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure by Russia in recent weeks, Ukraine's energy supply has been severely damaged. In response to this crisis, the EU has rapidly mobilized emergency energy assistance, which is on its way to Ukraine

- the EU said in a statement.

It is reported  that Austria, Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands have provided 157 power generators of various sizes through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.  The EU has also provided 10 high-capacity (1 MW) power generators from its own strategic stockpile worth €3.57 million. Each of these powerful 1 MW generators is capable of providing electricity to a medium-sized hospital in an emergency.

"Russia's plan to plunge Ukraine into darkness will not succeed. The EU is working around the clock to support energy supply in Ukraine," said Janez Lenarčič, European Commissioner for Crisis Management.
