Ukrainian industry increased its electricity consumption during the heating season by 23% year-on-year, reflecting a successful repair campaign and stable energy supply.

The ministry emphasizes that the stability and uninterrupted power supply provided by a successful repair campaign in the energy sector coordinated by the Ministry of Energy has allowed the Ukrainian industry to increase the pace of work.
In November-February 2023-2024, electricity consumption by industry amounted to about 9.38 billion kWh. This is 23% more than the amount consumed in the same period last year (7.61 billion kWh). In particular, in November 2023, the growth was 25.75% (compared to the same period of the previous year), in December - 37.56%, in January 2024 - 27.58%, in February - 6.17%

In addition, electricity consumption by households also increased by almost 12% (12.64 billion kWh vs. 11.3 billion kWh).
In total, in November-February 2023/2024, domestic power generating enterprises produced more than 41.53 billion kWh of electricity, which is 16% higher than the production volume during the 2022/2023 winter season.
The Ministry of Energy adds that most of this electricity was generated by Ukrainian NPPs - 22.17 billion kWh, which is 22% more than was produced by nuclear power plants in the same period last year.
Hydro generation also improved its performance, generating 4.16 billion kWh, which is 7.5% more than in the same period in 2022/2023, thermal generation (13 billion kWh, which is almost 10% more than in the previous winter period) and RES generation (2.03 billion kWh, which is 25% more than in the 2022/2023 winter season)

Ukrainian thermal power plants and combined heat and power plants have accumulated 236 thousand tons more coalthan planned and have more than 1 million tons in stock to successfully complete the heating season.
