Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng has announced plans to begin delivering "flying" cars in 2027. The company is also preparing to launch robotaxis and produce humanoid robots in the coming years. This is reported by Reuters, transmitted by UNN.

Details

Company President Brian Gu announced that Xpeng plans to begin mass production of "flying" cars as early as next year. In addition, the company intends to launch the production of humanoid robots in the fourth quarter of 2026. Gu also stated that robotaxi trials will begin this year in Guangzhou, a city in southern China.

According to him, the company could release hundreds to thousands of such vehicles within the next 12-18 months. He emphasized that 2027 will be a "critical year" for conducting global trials with partners.

Brian Gu also spoke of the "huge potential" for cooperation with German automaker Volkswagen. Last month, the company began mass production of its first electric vehicle model, created together with Xpeng.

There are many areas where we can cooperate and truly benefit each other

- said Gu, adding that Xpeng is also open to partnerships with other automakers.

A separate area of development is humanoid robots. According to Gu, they will initially be used as reception administrators or in sales for interacting with customers. He also noted that in the perspective of 10-20 years, the robotics business could surpass the company's automotive division.
