China said that tightening U.S. sanctions against traders dealing with Iran would only exacerbate the conflict. Beijing called for avoiding escalation.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stated that increased economic pressure from the United States would not bring an end to the war with Iran, UNN reports, citing AP.
"This will only increase tensions and exacerbate the situation, which is in no one's interest," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said in Beijing, as the United States threatens sanctions against countries trading with Iran.
China calls on all parties to avoid measures that could further exacerbate disagreements and conflicts, as well as undermine global economic development and financial stability, he added.
