U.S. President Joe Biden posted a photo of the released Evan Gershkovich, Alsa Kurmashova and Paul Whelan on social network X, UNN reports.
"After enduring incredible suffering and uncertainty, the Americans detained in Russia are safe, free, and have begun their journey back to the arms of their families," Biden said in a statement.

On Thursday, August 1, the largest prisoner exchange between the United States and Russia since the Cold War took place at a Turkish airport. Among those released are journalists, politicians, and other citizens, a total of 24 people from both sides.
