Annalena Baerbock stated that the EU should move to making decisions by a qualified majority of votes on key issues of foreign policy. This is due to Hungary's blocking of Ukraine's accession.
The European Union should introduce a qualified majority system for decisions on key issues of European foreign policy. This was stated by the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany Annalena Berbock during the "Europe 2025" conference on March 27, reports UNN.

According to Berbock, when the security of Europe is under threat, when it is unclear which side the United States of America is on now, it is important to show determination in such a situation. She added that the EU cannot tolerate a situation where one member state acts in a way that is opposite to the methods of the rest of the states.
If the core of the EU is the principle of joint decision-making, and Article 4(3) of the Treaty on European Union states that the goal is "the principle of loyal cooperation", then we simply cannot continue to tolerate the situation that for three or perhaps two years one EU country has been doing the exact opposite. And this country not only works against this loyal cooperation with every round of sanctions every six months, but also blocks accession negotiations with Ukraine
Presumably, Berbock was alluding to Hungary, whose authorities have recently blocked Ukraine's accession to the European Union.
Today I appeal with an urgent call: a qualified majority of votes on key issues of European foreign policy must finally be created. We can no longer afford to be unable to act fully here.
