Apple appoints new head to replace Tim Cook after 15 years

Apple has appointed John Ternus as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), replacing Tim Cook, who is stepping down after 15 years at the helm of the tech giant, the company announced on March 20, writes UNN.

Apple announced that Tim Cook will become the executive chairman of Apple's board of directors, and John Ternus, senior vice president of hardware engineering, will become Apple's next CEO starting September 1, 2026.

The company stated that this was unanimously approved by the board of directors and follows a "thorough, long-term succession planning process."

Cook will reportedly continue in his role as CEO through the summer, "working closely with Ternus on a smooth transition."

As is known from open sources, Ternus has worked at Apple for 25 years. Cook has served as Apple's CEO since 2011, after co-founder Steve Jobs resigned due to health reasons shortly before his death.
