In Spain, a 13-year-old boy died while celebrating his country's victory at the 2026 World Cup. This is reported by the BBC, according to UNN.

"A 13-year-old boy died as a result of the collapse of part of a fountain in the province of Salamanca in northwestern Spain during celebrations of the country's victory at the FIFA World Cup," the publication writes.

As emergency services told the BBC, two other teenagers were injured, including one child who was taken to the hospital with a suspected leg fracture.

People were celebrating Spain's victory inside the "Árbol Gordo" fountain in the city of Ciudad Rodrigo (Salamanca province) when, around 00:30 local time (23:30 British Summer Time), it partially collapsed.

"What was supposed to be a celebration of the Spanish national football team's victory at the World Cup turned into a tragedy," the Ciudad Rodrigo city council wrote on social media.

The emergency service of Castile and León reported that it received several calls regarding the fountain collapse. According to local media, part of the structure collapsed after several people climbed onto it to celebrate Spain's victory.
