Magyar ordered an investigation into the detention of an Oschadbank vehicle carrying 75 million euros and gold. The case involving the abduction of people and valuables will be examined by the Prosecutor General of Hungary.

Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar has ordered an investigation into the detention of Ukrainian Oschadbank cash-in-transit officers with a valuable cargo in the country, UNN reports.

We have ordered an immediate internal investigation within the National Tax and Customs Administration, the Counter-Terrorism Centre, and other relevant authorities regarding the case of the Ukrainian "gold convoy." The Prosecutor General must review this matter immediately

As a reminder

Oschadbank reported the groundless detention of two cash-in-transit vehicles and the disappearance of seven employees in Hungary on March 5. This occurred during Viktor Orbán's premiership in Hungary.

Subsequently, Hungary stated that the seven Ukrainian citizens detained with the cash-in-transit vehicles containing a shipment of money and gold in Hungary had already been expelled from the country on March 6.

The National Police of Ukraine initiated criminal proceedings regarding the abduction of Ukrainian citizens and a service vehicle of JSC "Oschadbank" on the territory of Hungary. The information was entered into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under articles concerning illegal deprivation of liberty and hostage-taking.

Hungary returned the funds and valuables of "Oschadbank," which had been seized by Hungarian special services this March, to Ukraine in early May, following the election victory of Péter Magyar, who subsequently assumed the office of Prime Minister of Hungary.

Oschadbank noted that the total volume of valuables contained in the two cash-in-transit vehicles amounted to 40 million US dollars, 35 million euros, and 9 kg of investment gold.
