The collapse of the European Union, as well as the rollback of NATO borders, is as much Russia's goal as the destruction of Ukraine. This opinion was expressed by Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (CPD), reports UNN.

According to him, "this reality must be recognized, and it can only be destroyed by destroying Putin's regime, destroying the Russian military-industrial complex and economy."
It is simply unrealistic to buy off the ideological paradigm shift of these old St. Petersburg fanatics and murderers with the Arctic, and this may not fit into the heads of people who think rationally.
In his conviction, for the ideological war to end, preconditions must be met that lie in the economic sphere, as well as in the state of the military-industrial complex and society.
Russia is waging an ideological war against Ukraine – Putin's regime pursues exclusively imperial ideological goals. Accordingly, simple scenarios, which some call "mutual concessions" that will lead to peace in an instant – this is part of the fog of war and lies. Russia is conducting a cognitive operation, trying to deceive Western elites. And who, if not Russia, knows perfectly well that during this fog, balances of power often change in democracies, affecting the external situation. While autocracy may remain stable externally, democratic states live by political cycles. That is why Russia lies when the positions of democratic rivals are strong, buys time, and tries to change everything during political cycles within democracies.
He assures that Russia's clear goal today is to continue the war, and this goal "will change only when resources are lacking."
"The ideological firmware of Putin's regime will not change overnight. Putin did not start the war over Donbas. He pursues the goal of destroying the state of Ukraine and restoring imperial Russia, which, in his opinion, should return at least part of Europe to its sphere of influence, according to the projection of the former Warsaw Pact. That is, as long as Russia has an economy, a military-industrial complex, and people who are ready to fight, and society has not exploded, they will think in terms of war, not in terms of Donbas, which they are trying to deceive everyone around with," Kovalenko summarizes.
Recall
Head of the President's Office Kyrylo Budanov stated that a change of regimes in Russia will not change its imperial thinking. He believes that conditions should be created under which Russia will disappear as an empire, and several regional national states will emerge on its territory.
